The best time to get your tree’spruning shears is during the late winter months. New branches will grow by the early spring. Continue to fertilize your tree until it is ready to be replanted.

If you don’t want to wait until spring to prune your trees, you can use the same techniques as described in the previous section. However, be sure to remove all the dead branches before transplanting your new tree into your home.

If you do not remove them, they will grow back in a few weeks.
