Since rubber is very slow to degrade, you can expect to enjoy the landscaping material for many many years without the hassle of topping it up annually. It stays in the ground for a long time.

How do you kill grass in rubber mulch?
The water is being boiled. One of the simplest ways to kill weeds is to use a kettle of boiling water. You can pour boiling water on the plants. The roots will continue to grow, even though a few applications should kill them. If you don’t have a kettle, you can also use a spray bottle.
Spray the area with water and let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse it off with clean water. This will kill any weeds that may have gotten into the water, as well as any pests that might have been attracted by the smell.
