The trommel is usually set up with an angle of five degrees and a drum speed of 18 to 20rpm. The fines will most likely be fully removed halfway through the run if the speed is slower. The fines are removed from the drum and placed in a plastic bag.

The bag is then placed on a conveyor belt, which moves the bag to the next drum, and so on, until the entire drum is emptied. This process is repeated until all fines have been removed.

What does a trommel screen do?

A trommel screen, also known as a rotary screen, is a mechanical screening machine used to separate materials, mainly in the mineral and solid-waste processing industries. It consists of a drum that is elevated at an angle of 45 degrees to the surface of the material being screened.

The drum is filled with a liquid, such as water, and the liquid is pumped into the drum by means of an impeller, which rotates at a constant speed.

How does a gold trommel work?

Gold-bearing material is added to the hopper and the force of water washes it down or cleans it to break up the material and help separate the gold. The drum is moving round and round until it reaches the bottom of the machine.

The drum is then placed on a conveyor belt, which moves it through a series of hoppers, each of which is filled with a different colour of gold, until the whole drum has been filled. This process is repeated several times until all the coloured gold is taken out, leaving only the white gold in the centre.

When the drums have been emptied, they are put back on the conveyer belt and moved on to another machine, in which the same process of emptying, cleaning and sorting takes place. At the end of this process, the finished gold bars are weighed and weighed again, so that the weight of each gold bar can be accurately determined.

It is not possible to weigh gold by hand, but a machine is used to do this for a small fee.

What is a trommel screen separator?

Screen are designed to provide years of trouble-free separation and are built for heavy duty applications. The trommel screen can be used to separate materials by size. All fines can flow down and through the trommel if the rotating drum rolls larger pieces. This allows for a more efficient separation process.

How does vibration screen work?

The motor drives the eccentric shaft to rotate to generate centrifugal inertia force, which forces the screen box to vibrate. In the video below, you can see the process in action.

How does a banana screen work?

Used in wet and dry applications, banana screens are vibratory equipment which use the distinctive shape to process larger volumes of material using a smaller footprint. The difference is that inclined horizontal screens have the ability to vibrate, but this is not the case with this. Banana screens can be used in a wide variety of applications.

They are commonly used for the processing of foodstuffs such as fruit:

  • Vegetables
  • Meat
  • Fish
  • Poultry
  • Eggs
  • as well as in the production of pharmaceuticals

  • Cosmetics
  • Textiles
  • Paper
  • Ceramics
  • Glass
  • Dairy products
  • Plastics
  • Other products

Banana screens have also been used to produce a range of other materials, including paper and paperboard.
