It may seem like your plant is dead, but it is not. This stage usually lasts about six to nine months. Your orchid will have the energy to grow again after that.

When you see the first signs of new growth, such as new leaves, new flowers, or new buds, it’s time for you to plant your new plants. If you wait too long, you may not be able to get your plants back to their full potential.

You may have to wait until the next growing season, when the plants will be ready for bloom.

Someone even made a video about it!

What do I do when all the flowers fall off my orchid?

You can either leave the flower spike intact, cut it back to a node, or remove it completely. The flower spike should be removed at the base of the plant. If the existing stem starts to turn yellow, this is the route to take. You will need a sharp knife, a pair of pliers, and some tweezers.

If you don’t have any of these items, you can also use a razor blade to cut the stems back. Be careful not to damage the leaves or flowers, as you will have to reattach them later. Once you’ve cut off the entire stem, it’s time to attach it to the rest of your orchids.

To do this, take a small piece of twine and tie it into a knot. Pull the knot tight, then tie the other end around your plant’s stem. Repeat this process for the remaining stems. When you’re done you should have a plant that looks like the one in the picture below.

These kits are available at most garden centers and can be purchased online or at your local garden center. They cost about $10 to $15 and will give you a good idea of how much soil you need to add to your pot to get the right amount of root growth.

Be sure to read the instructions that come with the kit and follow them to the letter.
