Viable seeds, soaked for 10 minutes in a solution of hot sulfuric acid, can be expected to germinate in about 6 weeks. Fresh seed, yellow to ripe, should be planted with the top of the seed barely visible and the temperature should be between 70 and 80F. Seedlings should not be allowed to dry out.
Plant seedlings in well-drained potting soil and allow them to grow until they reach a height of 3 to 4 feet (1.5 to 2 meters) and a diameter of 2 to 3 inches (5.4 to 7.6 cm). The soil should have a pH of 6.0 or less, and be well aerated.
Watering is not necessary, but it is recommended that the soil be thoroughly rinsed between waterings to remove excess salts and other impurities that may be present in the root zone. When the plant reaches the desired height and diameter, it will need to be pruned back to a smaller size to prevent it from becoming too large.
Pruning is best done in late spring or early summer, after the plants have reached their full size and are ready for transplanting into the nursery.

How long does it take to grow areca palm from seed?
This process takes a bit of time. It will take several years for plants to reach three or four feet in height and for seeds to grow after six weeks. If you have fresh seeds, you can plant them in the ground and wait for them to grow.
How do you plant palm seeds?
Thoroughly remove all of the fleshy fruit from the seeds, and then plant the seeds in containers of potting soil. The seeds should be planted just below the surface of the soil. To prune, cut off branches that are too long, too thick, or too close together. The best time to plant a palm is in late spring or early summer, when the weather is warm and the soil is rich in nutrients.
Does areca palm need big pots?

Do you soak palm seeds before planting?

Palm seeds must be soaked for at least 24 hours to soften the skin of the seed before they can be used. The seeds are placed in a container of water and allowed to soak overnight.
After the water has evaporated, they are removed from the container and soaked again in fresh water. This process is repeated several times until all the moisture has been removed. Then, the dried seed is placed on a piece of wood and covered with a cloth. It is then left in the sun to dry for several days before it is ready for use. Figure 7 illustrates the soaking process for a variety of palm seed varieties.
How long do you soak palm tree seeds?
