Atlanta is in zones 7 and 8 of the usda hardiness scale, with two subzones, zone 8a and zone 7b. The USDA hardiness zone system is based on the number of days in a year that a plant can be expected to survive outside its normal range of temperatures and relative humidity. It is used to classify plants according to their ability to withstand extremes of temperature, moisture, light, and other environmental conditions.

We were placed in Zone 7 in north Georgia, Zone 8 in middle Georgia and Zone 9 in south Georgia. It includes the cities of Atlanta, Augusta, and Savannah, as well as the surrounding counties of DeKalb, Cobb, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hamilton, Henry, Madison, Marion, Morgan, Perry, Rockdale, Snell, Sumter, Telfair, Washington, Walton, Wilkes and Woodruff.

The city of Savannah is located in the middle of Zone 6, which includes all of Georgia’s northernmost counties, including Athens, Athens-Clarke, Decatur, Fayette, Forsyth, Jackson, Jasper, Lawrence, Macon, Monroe, Montgomery, Newton, Pickens, Pulaski, Savannah-Chatham, Smyrna, St. Mary’s, Talladega and Tuscaloosa. Zones 8 and 9 are the easternmost and westernmost parts of our state, respectively.

They are located along the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean, with Savannah being the largest city in zone 8.

What is the difference between zone 7a and 7b?

Zone 7 has an average low temperature of zero to 10 degrees; 7a has a low of 0 to 5 degrees, and 7b has a low of 10 degrees. The average temperature in each zone can be found by dividing the temperature by the number of days in the month.

The difference between the two averages is then subtracted from the average for Zone 3. If the difference is less than or equal to 1 degree, then the zone is considered to be in Zone 4.

What is Zone 7a?

The overall zone has a minimum average of temperatures of 0° to 10°F. Zone 7a: This subzone has a minimum average temperature of 0° to 5° F. Zone 7b has a minimum average temperature of 5 or greater. These subzones have a maximum temperature range of -10°C to +50° C. The maximum temperatures in these zones are based on the average temperatures for the entire year.

What zone is Fulton County?

The Atlanta BeltLine is a public-private partnership between the Atlanta City Council, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). What is a Zone 6?

Zone 6 starts in the Mid-Atlantic United States (including parts of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia) and extends slightly down the Atlantic Coast to include North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and the Carolinas. In the United Kingdom, it is known as the Channel Islands and is located between the Isle of Wight and Anglesey. It has a population of approximately 2,000 people.

What can be grown in Zone 7b?

Vegetables can be planted outdoors in early February in zone 7. These crops include beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, lettuce, onions, peas, potatoes, radishes, spinach, turnips, kale and collards. March is a good time to plant corn. Cool-season vegetables, such as tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, eggplants, squash, zucchini and eggplant, can be grown in zones 8 and 9.
