You can find him in the south of the village. When you meet him for the first time, you have to solve The Priceless Maracas quest in order to complete it. If you don’t want to pay him, just talk to him and he’ll tell you that he doesn’t need the money, and you can leave him alone.

If you do want him to give you the seeds, however, then you’ll need to find a way to get him out of the village. The only one who will he’s in the forest is the one you’re looking for. He’ll ask you to help him find his way back to his home, which is in a small village just outside of town.

Someone even made a video about it!

Where is Hestu in the Korok Forest?

If you head directly east of the Master Sword stone (straight south of the shrine), you’ll find Hestu — assuming he’s found his way home by the time you reach him. If he isn’t found yet, he’ll be waiting for you at the entrance to the Shrine of Amana. He’ll ask you to find his sister, who’s been missing for a long time.

If you tell him that you’ve found her, she’ll tell you that her sister has been kidnapped by a group of bandits, and that they’re planning to kill her. She’ll also mention that she’s not sure what to do about it, so you can ask her what she thinks about the situation.

Either way, you get to decide whether or not she wants to stay with the bandits or go back to her village and find out what’s going on. The choice is up to you, of course, but I’d recommend telling her you’re not going to help her unless you have a good reason for doing so, as it’ll make things a lot easier on you later on in the game.

Is Hestu always in Korok Forest?

Hestu will not always end up in the lost woods. Hestu will finally make it to Korok Forest after you visit him at the beginning of the game, but he will be in a different location than he was in previous games. Japanese version, he is referred to as “Korok” instead of “Lost Woods”. This is likely a translation error, as the word “lost” is not used in Japanese.

Why can’t I find the Korok Mask?

To get to the body of water, simply go south of the two lanterns and keep the tree line on your left. Climb up and open it to get the Korok mask. Now, head back to the entrance of the cave, and head north. You’ll see a chest with an EX Treasure Chest on top of it. Open it and you’ll get a Dark Matter. Now, go back south and follow the path until you reach a fork.

Follow this path for a while, until it turns into a path that leads to a cave entrance. Head back out and continue on, but keep heading south. Eventually, you will come to another fork, so head south first. Once you’re in the next room, take a left and then a right. This will take you to an area with two more chests.
