Succulents are often known as drought-tolerant plants but some of them can also tolerate frost. They thrive in cold, snowy weather and the extreme temperature brings out their beautiful flowers. First, look at the plant’s leaves. If the leaves turn brown, it is likely that the plants will not be able to survive the cold weather.

The soil should be moist but not soggy. It should also be dry enough to allow the roots to grow through it. This is also a good sign that you will need to water your plants during the winter months.

Should I bring succulents inside for winter?

Bring Them Indoors Even if your succulent is in the right zone, it is still a good idea to bring it inside during the winter. All it takes is one cold night to damage your plants. If your garage doesn’t go below 50 degrees, it can be stored in a dry place.

Keep Them Away from the Wind If you live in an area with a lot of wind, you will want to keep your plant away from it as much as possible. This is especially true for succulents, as they are very sensitive to wind. The best way to do this is to cover the plant with some sort of insulating material, such as a plastic bag or a piece of cardboard.

You can also put a sheet of plastic over the top of the pot, but be careful not to let the plastic get too hot or it will start to burn the leaves. Keep in mind, however, that if the wind is strong enough to blow the heat away, the plants will not be able to take it and they will die.

Where do you put succulents?

Place the potted plant in a sunny location. Try to place them near a south- or east-facing window since they prefer at least 6 hours of sun per day. You may notice your succulents becoming spindly or stretching toward the light if they don’t get enough sun.

This is normal and will go away as the plant matures. If you have a window in your home, make sure it’s wide enough to let in enough light to allow your plants to grow.

How cold is too cold for succulents?

40 degrees and up is what it should be. Plants are too cold to survive under freezing temperatures. If you live in a cold climate, you may be able to grow this plant in your greenhouse. However, it is not recommended to do so as it can be very difficult to keep the temperature of the greenhouse at a comfortable level.

If you’re going to plant a succulent outside, make sure you plant it in a location that’s not too close to your house. If you live in an area with a lot of trees and shrubs, it can be difficult to find a spot that won’t block your view of the sky.
